Join McMaster’s MCM program on Wednesday, January 19, for a lunch and learn masterclass (with lunch included!)
This session will offer expert insights on how communicators can drive social outcomes and develop their professional skill sets by serving as directors on the boards of nonprofit organizations. Brenda Sweeney and Mark John Stewart, experienced governance professionals, will discuss: roles and responsibilities of directors, principles of good governance, how to identify and seek board opportunities, and bringing a strategic communications lens to board work. Takeaways from this session will include how:
- adopting a governance mindset requires shifting from operations to oversight
- leveraging strategic communications skills enhances board decision-making
- pairing strategic communications with governance can expand career horizons
